Melisa Uchida, E-RYT-500, has been teaching yoga and healthy living since 2001. Her lineage is from the Ashtanga tradition. She loves the focus and discipline required in Ashtanga. But decades of practice, three children, injuries and just plain old aging, led her to create various sequences to meet different stages in life. Yoga asanas are not one-size fits all. As a teacher, she constantly observes, evaluates and adapts asanas and sequences to determine what is appropriate for her students on any given day.

Her sequences are inspired by Pattabhi Jois, DKV Desikachar, Matthew Sweeney and life's stages.

She is strict, yet approachable and makes learning fun. Expect challenging, yet accessible classes. She gracefully weaves traditional and contemporary approaches to hatha yoga.

Melisa created the MaKa Movement yoga teacher training program to provide quality teacher trainings in an industry where learning is often diluted. Small class size, superb curriculum and Melisa’s experience make these courses the best available.

200 and 300-hour courses are certified by the Yoga Alliance.

Limit 12 participants.

Melisa has a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from Boston University and Master of Arts in Global Leadership from Hawaii Pacific University. She is author of YOGA: A Comprehensive Guide for Teachers and Practitioners. Her articles appear in Bare Essentials-Australia, Towson Patch, Oahu Island News, MidWeek and other print and online publications. Melisa lives in Towson with her husband and three children.

Nate McQueen, RYT-500, believes in holistic, healthy living and is inspired to help others feel strong and peaceful. Nate was a super-athlete, marathoner, triathlete, and heavy weightlifter, but had to revamp his routine after meniscus surgery. He still loves hard workouts, but combines strength training with yoga asana. He completed his 200 and 300-hour teacher training with MaKa Movement.  Nate teaches strong Ashtanga-inspired classes. When he's not at his "day job" as news video-journalist, you can him at the gym, outside with his family, or learning mixed martial arts.  P.S., his playlists rock too!
